The price movement of a financial asset when the overall direction is upwards. In an uptrending stock, each successive high and low is higher than those found earlier in the trend. This means that an uptrend is composed of higher swing highs and higher swing lows. As long as the price continues making these highs and lows, the uptrend continues. Some traders choose to only trade during uptrends. This is contrasted with a downtrend, where the overall momentum is bearish.
